One of my student, Phuok invited me to his music practice. We decided to meet 4PM at the guest house and we drove bikes together. He plays a pianika. I told him I used to play flute and brought it to Cambodia. I was a bit shy to play it since I did not play for many years, but I was looking for an opportunity to practice again hopefully with children. So, it was such a perfect invitation for me. We drove our bike about 30 minutes to North and I heard the sound of music such as trumpets, sax, drums and more. There are about 60-70 students were practicing outside. Phuok introduced me to his friends. There were no teachers the day, but they practiced both individually and group. The student leader said he wants to introduced me to the all and they made lines. I did not expect that, but they played two songs for me. So I introduced myself and played one simple song.
I am only Japanese and 30s, but who care?? I am so happy to play music with them and hope to seek some benefits for them.
Music and Arts connect people whoever and that is why I want to promote children's education through the Arts.
青空教室にきてくれる生徒の一人が、彼の音楽教室にこないかと誘ってくれました。４時に待ち合わせをして、自転車で一緒に行きました。３０分ぐらいアンコールワットへ続く道をずっと行って、教室に近づくと、クラリネットやトランペット、鼓笛隊の音楽が聞こえてきて、胸が高鳴りました。小学校のときは、ブラスバントに入っていましたし、社会人１年目からフルートを始めていたので、こうしてまた仲間と一緒に演奏できる機会がくるとは思いませんでした。しかも高校生バンド一緒に。６０人ほどの生徒が、外で毎日５時から６時までの１時間練習しています。暗くなると、星空の下での演奏はなんとも爽快です。３日間連続で練習に参加させてもらったのですが、先生は不在でした。リーダーの先輩が指揮を取って、指導していました。参加した初日に、リーダーが皆に私を紹介したいと言ってくれて、歓迎の曲を２曲弾いてくれました。１曲は「蛍の光」でした。私も自己紹介をして、もう逃げられない状態だったので、一曲「エーデルワイス」を弾きました。唯一の３０代外国人を快く迎え入れてもらえて、とっても嬉しいです。どうにかして、資金集めなどに協力できたらと思います。音楽や芸術は本当に国籍、年齢を問わないと実感しました。
